Open Systems Architecture. Transparent Connectivity Concept

As open systems architecture INFRA-XS, for the database backend which collects all the data of the monitoring environment, uses a relational database model, created during the initial setup. Supported database types are:

Oracle
MS SQL
PostgreSQL (open source)

The direct data access via SQL as well as via specific programming languages, like PL/SQL in Oracle or PL/pgSQL in PostgreSQL, is possible. This can, for example, be utilised for modelling and implementing customised interfaces for third-party data.

Tool assistance for database queries via SQL is provided by INFRA-XS’s XS-Designer and in the integrated Web portal.

Besides, through a proprietary DDL scripting language, the product provides an extended functionality for database access. It allows for a database backend-independent processing of database operations.

Easy Data Withdrawal

The data collected and processed by INFRA-XS, though, can as well be utilised without actually embedding the product in existing systems. The download functionality provided by the integrated Web portal, for instance, allows for an easy withdrawal of the entire range of reporting data – from raw data to ready-made reports, from event to failure data; of course, in all common formats: CSV, Microsoft^® Excel, Adobe^® PDF, various graphic formats.

For the visualisation and utilisation of INFRA-XS data in, for example, other portal solutions or BI software, either an interface can be used or an automated data export can be implemented.

Integration and Correlation of Data

But also the reverse approach can be taken: just as INFRA-XS data can be utilised in external solutions, data stemming from external sources can be integrated and correlated with the data produced by INFRA-XS. Correlating data like

external monitoring data, e.g. from third-party moitoring tools,
event data from the network management,
application logs

with the data collected by INFRA-XS not only provides an overall and complete picture or your IT service quality, but also makes it easy to locate the cause of an occurring problem. Time-consuming examinations, like root cause or service impact analyses, are facilitated or even become dispensable – and instead of problem finding your staff can dedicate their time to problem solving.
